Should TikTok Be Banned?

TikTok, as most of you know, is a video sharing social network. It is used to create videos of people lip-syncing, dancing, telling stories, and showing off their talents in under 60 seconds.

On August 6, President Trump signed two executive orders saying that TikTok would be banned in the U.S. if their company was not sold to a non Chinese corporation. Currently TikTok is up for sale, but should it be bought or should we just let it die?

TikTok gives people free access to their creative side. Ellie Aasen says, “It’s where you can express yourself and it’s funny. If TikTok would be banned you would lose connection with people. I would be sad.” A lot of people’s careers rely on the app to make money and get sponsors so maybe it shouldn’t be banned.

Both sides to this constant debate have very good reasons with which side they choose, but with everything going on in this world, TikTok might be the only thing that brings people happiness.  Banning TikTok might be a mistake considering how many people have benefited from TikTok and how happy the app makes people feel. What are your thoughts?
