Sports for Thought

Get your active gear, because it’s fall sports season here at Irving Middle School!

Here at Irving, we have a variety of sports for all kinds of athletes, for all different kinds of seasons. Walk, hop, or skip to the gym or office if you’re ever interested in participating in a sport. Just August 30th, 2021, tryouts in the gym were held for any interested athletes. The only requirement is that you have to have filled out your red sign-up sheet to participate in any of the Irving sports. If you try to attend any game or practice sessions without it turned in, you will not be allowed to participate and will get a phone call home. The sport we’ll be talking about is cross country and soccer, so if you’re interested, keep reading!

Cross Country

Are you a fan of jogging long distances with friends? Then you should consider joining Irving’s Cross Country Team! Cross country overall focuses on self improvement. It helps improve endurance and stamina, along with accomplishing your goals. Cross country is a team sport all about running on open terrain. The number of players on the team so far is unknown due to tryouts still being in session. But, we do know that the coaches are Ms. Eastman and Mrs. Stanley. The team practices by running around the Irving Community. Practice is held every day but Tuesday, but in the case of rain/severe weather, practices may be cancelled unless instructed otherwise. Cross country season ends in the first week of October. So lace up your track shoes, because the Irving Cross Country Team is ready for some competition!
