Some people like cats, while others like dogs. But the question is, which would make a better pet?

People call dogs a “man’s best friend” because of their personalities. Almost all dogs can live about 10 to 13 years, depending on the breed or gender. There are currently about 350 dog breeds all over the world (such as the German Shepherd and the Pekingese) and all have different types and colors of fur. However, dogs tend to shed a ton of fur, which is a problem for most dog owners. They also tend to slobber and make a mess while consuming food and water.

Cats on the other hand are much smarter than dogs. Most cats can live about 16 to 20 years depending on the breed or gender. There are currently about 71 cat breeds (such as the Siamese and the Sphinx), which is less than the amount of dog breeds. Just like dogs, many cat breeds have different types and colors of hair (while some have none), and they tend to shed a ton, too. However, the way they consume food and water is much different. Unlike dogs, they take in tiny amounts of food and water, and don’t make a mess. They also don’t slobber like dogs do, too.

There are many different opinions on cats and dogs (both positive and negative). About 51% of people think that dogs are good pets, 21% think that cats are good pets, and 27% aren’t sure which would make a better pet. Therefore, between the good and bad qualities of cats and the good and bad qualities of dogs, it should be fair to say that both cats and dogs are good pets, no matter what their qualities are.
