On October 2nd the Cornhuskers posted their highest score under head coach Scott Frost in a 56-7 blowout win against Northwestern Saturday night. The game started with a 70 yard pass from Adrian Martinez to Samori Toure. This was the first play of the game, and the Huskers followed this with two more plays to score on this quick three play drive for 7 points. The game continued, and with Nebraska still in the driver seat they finished the first half in a commanding 35-7 lead. The Huskers dominated the 3rd quarter as well. Heading into the 4th Nebraska had a 49-7 lead. But in between the two quarters the lights turned off. AC/DC’s Thunderstruck started to play loudly echoing over the field. The 4th quarter light show had begun. Possibly a new 4th quarter tradition where the lights turn off and red fireworks light off over the endzones. Nebraska defensive star Cam Taylor-Britt was recorded saying, “I was like whoa, I’ve never seen that. It was pretty amazing man.” With the new found energy the cornhuskers went on to hold their lead and win in a blowout fashion. The next time these two football teams face off will be in the 2022 season opener in Dublin Ireland for the Aer Lingus College Football Classic. The Cornhuskers will return to Memorial Stadium next Saturday night in a tough matchup against Big Ten opponent Michigan. This week’s win brings the Huskers record to 3 wins and 3 loses.
