Teachers Former Jobs

I decided to take a moment to ask teachers what their former jobs were, and I got a lot of responses back. Most of them had normal jobs until they decided to pursue teaching. But some of the teachers had interesting jobs! For instance, Mr. Fielder had a job in publishing for several years as a product specialist. Mr. Teer worked at a miniature golf course called “Putt Putt” and it’s now officially his 5th year teaching at Irving. If things didn’t fall into place for Mr. Teer, he mentions “I would be an exceptional used car salesman.” At the age of 12, Mrs. Kroenke used to deliver newspapers! She also opened up a summer day care program.

Mrs Covey was a camp counselor at Camp Kitaki for 4 years and has taught for 11 years. Mr Lindblad worked at the Cornhusker Marriott hotel then worked at Goodrich Middle School in the after school program. He’s been teaching for 3 years. Mr Deines worked at retail for a while and worked all the way to manager and has been teaching for 4 years.  Mrs Davenport worked as a library helper, daycare worker, secretary, and has been teaching for 8 years. Mr Loshbaugh worked as a projectionist, candy dancer (railroad worker), Roustabout, farm/ ranch hand and a construction worker.  He’s been teaching for 35 years.

I feel like we should recognize the teachers who dedicated their job to public education. Public education can be very difficult to maintain with people blurting out loud. And people talking while they are trying to get the lesson done. Just take a moment after school to say thank you.
